Bake Cookies Day!

17 Dec

Saturday is bake cookies day and I can’t wait! Since I got sick and wasn’t able to make them for National Pastry Day, I get to make them on Saturday! I will make my favorite recipe for sugar cookies. I am going to share the recipe with you.

Sugar Cookies

1/3 cup soft butter 1/3 cup shortening 3/4 cup sugar 1 egg 1 1/2 tsp vanilla Dash salt 1 tsp baking powder 2 cups ap flour 1 tbsp milk

Directions: 1. Beat butter and shortening on med/ high for 1 minute. 2. Slowly add in sugar, beat until light and fluffy. 3. Add egg and vanilla, mix until incorporated, stop mixer and scrape down bowl. 4. In another bowl mix together the salt, flour, and baking powder. 5. Add flour into the sugar mixture and add milk. 6. Mix until just combined, make dough into a ball, flatten and cover. 7. Chill dough for up to 3 hours. 8. On a lightly floured surface roll out dough, and cut into desired shapes. 9. Bake on an ungreased cookie sheet for 7-8 minutes at 375 F. 10. Cool and decorate as desired.

These cookies are so light and cake like! To add a special extra something, they are amazing topped with buttercream, or a whipped cream cheese frosting. Add sprinkles in green and red for a holiday look.

I hope you have a moment to bake your favorite cookie recipe or try this one!

Happy Baking!
